Traditions, part 2

We have a neat tradition we always do during the Christmas season - starting in December, and going until Christmas, every night before bed we sing Christmas carols with the kids. They love it, and are sure to remind us that it's time to sing. We usually let 2 or 3 of them pick a carol (otherwise we'd be singing all night!) that we then sing together. We always end with a resounding rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas", which even the young ones get involved in. Last night we gave them all their own "day" - the older three each did days 6-11, the 3 year old did day 5 (five gold rings), our 7 year old got day 4 (four calling birds), and the 6 year old did day 3 (three French Hens). We all did days 12, 2, and of course, day one together. They had a great time doing it this way, so we'll have to mix it up somewhat so they can learn different days as well.

Nobody is going to mistake us for the Trapp Family Singers, but we enjoy singing anyway, on key or not!

As a sidenote, our three year old was singing it this morning, but got a little goofed up on 3 French hens - she was singing "Free French Mens". Too cute to correct at the time!

Oh, this sounded fun, and I love the new "3 French Mens" version of the song!

Happy New Year, my friend. It was good to hear from you :).
